about Andover Newton

Established in 1807, Andover Newton Theological School is the oldest graduate theological institution in the United States.

We are committed to creating a welcoming home to a broadly diverse student population (theological, racial, sexual orientation, etc) and in so doing enriching the seminary experience and better equiping our graduates for effective ministry in a pluralistic world. Our community celebrates 35 different denominations, and shares a campus and a vibrant friendship with Hebrew College and Rabbinical School.

The Andover Newton campus is draped over a hilltop overlooking the urban hustle of nearby Boston. The city’s downtown buildings are visible in the distance - reminders that Boston and Cambridge are just a subway ride away.

Many students relate to Boston through their ministries in urban field education or Clinical Pastoral Education sites. Others have used their hands for neighborhood renovation projects with Habitat for Humanity and Christians for Urban Justice. Area shelters for the homeless and meal programs are additional volunteer activities where our students find solace.

Greater Boston abounds with cultural and recreational activities. The city affords students the opportunity to experience music, dance, art and theater of all sorts. Sports and recreation are available for everyone: from fans, to weekend warriors, to outdoor extremists. And almost everything is easily accessible by Boston's subway and rail system, the “T.”

We invite you to visit our campus. To schedule your personalized tour, please feel free to call (617.964.1100 x272) or e-mail (admissions@ants.edu) the admissions office.
We welcome the opportunity to show you around!
