Jesus asks us to care for the sick and visit the imprisoned. After meeting a harpist who plays for people who are dying during the Christian Rituals for Death and Dying class at ANTS in January 2009, I envisioned a ministry of playing for people who are sick or dying or suffering in other ways. Music has been shown to serve the physical, emotional and spiritual need of people who are suffering. As a harpist I plan to visit hospitals, psychiatric units, prisons, hospices, and homes to use music as a way to show God's love and care by meeting some of these needs. To this end I have been renting a harp and taking lessons since February 2009. I come from a background of classical piano and have been picking the harp up fairly quickly, already building a small repertoire. I plan to purchase a harp that would be light enough to travel with me in my car. Cherylann Richards
